The CosMedix Benefit Peel is a non-acid peel that uses Vitamin A and C to stimulate renewal within the skin. Using a blend of 10% encapsulated Retinol AGP complex with 20% L-Ascrobic Acid, the Chirally Correct version of Vitamin C. Plus enzymes to assist with gentle resurfacing to allow peel absorption and best results.
One of the best things about the Benefit peel is that its a universal treatment. Suitable for all skin types, all skin conditions and all Fitzpatrick skin types. It doesn't require any prior prep (although best results are achieved when using a Cosmedix Vitamin A at home) and can be done as often as every 2-4 weeks (depending on the results you're trying to achieve).
Where the Benefit Peel has the edge is it's ability to treat Rosacea. Often a tricky condition to treat with traditional chemical / acid peels, because of the sensitive nature of this skin condition. The Benefit Peel works differently to acid peels that exfoliate the skin. Instead it stimulates renewal, increases skin thickness and therefore makes the skin more resilient. By thickening the dermal matrix we're able to reduce redness and make capillaries less visible.
CosMedix Benefit Peel - What Is A Metabolic Peel?
The CosMedix Benefit Peel is classed as a Metabolic Peel. Unlike traditional acid peels that use acids such as Glycolic Acid to chemically exfoliate the skin, a Metabolic Peel stimulates the skins natural turnover process without causing wounding to the skin. Although acid peels can and do have their benefits, in fact CosMedix have a number of acid based peels using Chirally Correct acids such as L-Lactic Acid, not every skin can tolerate acids in high concentration. Sensitive, compromised and Rosacea skins in particular can often struggle with acid peels. The Benefit Peel is a fantastic choice for these skins because it's incredibly gentle yet highly effective.
A sensitive skin is already suffering from a compromised barrier function. Therefore using an acid to exfoliate the skin barrier can leave the skin even more vulnerable. A metabolic peel such at the Benefit Peel does not compromise the skin barrier in the same way. Instead of exfoliation from the surface down, it uses stimulation, to increase renewal from the base up. More in keeping with the skins natural renewal cycle. The 'peeling' effect from the Benefit Peel is as a result of new cells pushing the old cells off. As opposed to skin shedding which occurs as a result of the skin ridding itself of damaged cells causes by an acid.
Furthermore Vitamin A and C, the key components of this treatment, are required by the skin for collagen synthesis. So we're feeding the skin with nutrients it needs to regenerate.
What ingredients are in CosMedix Benefit Peel?
The Benefit Peel is a combination of encapsulated Vitamin A and Chirally Correct Vitamin C, plus enzymes for gentle exfoliation and to enhance peel absorption. The delivery of Vitamin A and C into the skin increases the skins metabolic rate to kick start renewal. On day 3 post-peel is when the Retinol is most active and any micro-flaking can be seen.

What conditions does the CosMedix Benefit Peel treat?
The CosMedix Benefit Peel is suitable for all skin types and conditions. Thanks to it's acid-free formulation its especially beneficial for sensitive skins that would normally struggle to tolerate a peel treatment. The Benefit Peel is also particular good at treating Rosacea, helping to reduce redness and strengthen the skin. Unlike acid peels the Benefit Peel doesn't wound the stratum corneum, so barrier function is not compromised in the same way.
Despite being gentle, the Benefit Peel is a very effective treatment for lines and wrinkle, hyper pigmentation, sun damaged skin, mild acne and rosacea.
Skin Peel Safe For Eye Area
One of the other great things about the Benefit Peel, is because it's acid-free and a leave-on cream peel, it means its safe for treating problems around the eye area. Including lines and wrinkles, and also dark circles. The formulation allows for safe application close to the eye area, enabling us to treat concerns which would not be treated using traditional chemical peels.
See the before and after images to see the improvement in the lines and wrinkles (above) and also the improvement in dark circles (below). The combination of Vitamin A and C are fantastic for treating these concerns. By boosting collagen production to thicken the skin, making vascular dark circles appear less prominent. While also helping to brighten the eye area, improving the appearance of pigmented dark circles common in darker Fitzpatrick skin types and those prone to irritation around the eye i.e. from allergies etc.
