Sensitive. My skin is naturally prone to break outs.
What was your skin like before you converted to Medico Beauty products & philosophies?
I suffered from mild acne and overloaded my skin with products, thinking that it would help matters, but in fact it was only making the problem worse. I was also reliant on taking antibiotics to keep the problem at bay, but realised I couldn’t live on them for the rest of my life.
How did you hear about Medico Beauty?
Having opened up about my skin woes and use of antibiotics to regulate acne, my great friend Camilla Campion-Awwad told me there was something out there that could not only manage my issue, but could also give me back the healthy skin I was born with, permanently. She suggested that I come in for a consultation with Aysha Campion-Awwad, her sister. I quickly followed her advice and upon meeting with Aysha my entire skin philosophy changed.[caption id="" align="alignright" width="129"] Cosmedix Purity Clean[/caption]
What Medico Beauty products do you currently use?[caption id="attachment_1462" align="alignleft" width="214"] Emily Gomme[/caption] 1. Cosmedix Phytoclear 2. Cosmedix Purity Clean 3. Cosmedix Purity Balance 4. Osmosis Correct 5. Osmosis Clear Facial Conditioner 6. Osmosis Shelter 7. Cosmedix Benefit Balance 8. Cosmedix Clear Mask
Some of these products are "prescription only", meaning they are not available to buy online and must purchased from your therapist. Every morning and night, I wash my face with Purity Clean, then spray my face with either Purity Balance or Benefit Balance followed by Osmosis Correct mixed with Osmosis Clear facial conditioner. In the morning I apply Osmosis Shelter SPF30 for hydrating sun protection and at night I apply Cosmedix Phytoclear. If I get a pimple, I dab some Cosmedix Clear Clarifying Mask on it, which quickly zaps it away. I always dry my face with Scotch Roll (NEVER use towels) so not to spread bacteria. Now I'm just maintaining my great skin result, I only very occasionally go into the practice to have a Purity Peel.
What is your favourite Medico Beauty product(s)?
Omosis Shelter and Cosmedix Clear Clarifying Mask are my favourites. But in particular, I love the sprays, both the Cosmedix Benefit Balance and the Purity Balance. They are so refreshing and feel really dewy on the skin. I especially love that first morning spritz, it feels like a positive start to the day. I wear the pressed mineral foundation religiously, a great makeup which provides an added SPF sun protection boost.
What is your favourite thing about the Medico Beauty philosophy?
I love the inside out approach and the reassurance that everything I apply to my skin is botanical, pure and highly advanced in its formulation. I like knowing that all the ingredients are natural and nutritional for your skin, in comparison to other household name brands which are full of toxic ingredients. Switching to superior, plant based ingredients has hugely improved the sensitively issues that I was experiencing previously.
It's recommended that the products are used sparingly and I really find they last for a long time.[caption id="attachment_1460" align="alignright" width="394"] Emily Gomme[/caption]
How has the Medico Beauty routine changed your skin?
The Medico Beauty routine has entirely changed my skin. Before I started, my skin was imbalanced and I continually suffered from bad breakouts which I would try to cover up with lots of make up, only aggravating things further. I also relied on antibiotics, which in the short term improved my skin, but didn't get to the root of the problem and wasn't healthy for my body in the long run. Now, my skin is free from the all the toxic ingredients I was applying, which is reflected in the fact that I now have more of a glow and a predominantly clear complexion. I feel confident and my body feels healthier. As a result I wear much lighter make up coverage, practically none!
What is your exercise routine?
I love exercise and workout up to 5 times a week. I do a mixture from playing tennis, running outside, circuits training and bikram yoga. For your body to get the full benefits from sport I think it’s important to mix it up.[caption id="attachment_1524" align="alignleft" width="216"] The Thames River[/caption]
What's your favourite health food fix?
Dried figs: they always satisfy my sweet tooth.
What is your favourite way to maintain a healthy mind & unwind?
I like nothing more than going for a long run along the River Thames and zoning out to my workout playlist. No one can disturb you and it’s a great time for thinking and reflection. I do this at least twice a week and always feel better for it. If it’s not sport related, nothing beats a long hot bath or curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a good book. Everyone needs to make room for a bit of down time: it’s essential to keeping a healthy mind.
